A Few Words from the CEC Vice-President
Canadian Electroacoustic Community
A sound network.
Dear CEC members,
I’m a French multimedia artist based in Montréal, a fervent defender of electroacoustic music — not only its legacy, but its ongoing transformation. As the genre continues to evolve, it finds its place across ever-expanding creative territories. For the past three years, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the CEC Board alongside a wonderful team, contributing to the reimagining of the organization’s role and direction — while also joining the tremendous groundwork laid by those who came before me. I’m happy to share a few updates about where we’re heading.
JTTP 2026 — Concert at the KONTAKTE Festival (AdK Berlin). We’re pleased to announce that Malte Giesen, Director of the Electroacoustic Studio at the Akademie der Künste, will host a concert of JTTP 2026 works during the fifth edition of the KONTAKTE festival. We’re thrilled to return after our JTTP 2015 concert in the festival’s inaugural edition. The AdK Studio has also been a JTTP Residency Partner since 2023, offering a two-week residency to a selected artist.
Final Call — Submissions for JTTP 2025. JTTP is an annual showcase inviting submissions from emerging sound artists, evaluated by an international jury. As art and technology evolve, so do the forms and methods of expression. Today’s works often transcend genre boundaries — blending æsthetics, technologies and gestures in ways deeply rooted in electroacoustic practice. This ongoing redefinition of the field fuels boundless creativity.
In addition to the five main prizes, JTTP also offers seven thematic awards, for which any eligible participant may self-nominate during the submission process. JTTP is not just about prizes — it’s about committing to a creative process, sharing your work with an international community and potentially accessing opportunities such as residencies with our partners like AdK Berlin and CMMAS in Mexico. Deadline: 31 May — please help spread the word!
Final Call — CEC Board of Directors Nominations. The CEC continues to evolve so that it may better serve artists in experimental music and sound practices. We’re currently looking for new board members to help shape the future of the organization. If you have ideas, energy and a desire to contribute to a growing community, we invite you to get involved. It’s a meaningful way to have a voice in the ongoing conversations and decisions shaping the CEC and its membership. Deadline: 25 May.

AGM — Annual General Meeting. Early reminder that the 2025 AGM will take place in late August (exact date TBD), with both an in-person meeting in Montréal and a live webcast. It’s a great occasion to reconnect with fellow members, hear about recent developments and discuss what’s ahead. More details to come over the summer.
Until next time, I hope this eFlash! finds you well and wish you inspiration, courage and joy in your creations.
Warm regards,
Pauline Patie
CEC Vice-President
