A Few Words from the CEC Treasurer

Dear CEC members,

A big hello and salut to all of you from the Board of the CEC! It is my pleasure to update everyone on the CEC’s recent activities.

Membership Dues. I would like to make a friendly reminder to members to pay your membership dues as it is the beginning of our fiscal year. They are a significant part of our budget and help the CEC realize several yearly projects. You should have received a reminder recently from jef regarding this. A big thanks to everyone that has paid their dues already and to those that have caught up from past dues owing from previous years. If you have any questions regarding memberships and payments, please contact jef chippewa.

AGM. Our yearly Annual General Meeting will be held in late August [details to follow]. We hope you will be able to attend in person or participate online. At the AGM I will provide information on the CEC’s financial situation in my Treasurer’s Report. 1[1. See last year’s Treasurer’s Report in the September 2023 edition of eFlash!] The other CEC officers will also be presenting their yearly reports to the membership about their activities and upcoming initiatives of the CEC. The AGM is a great opportunity to catch up on all the activities and happenings around the CEC, as well as to meet the board and fellow members, and the prizewinners and thematic awards recipients for the 25^th edition of JTTP.

JTTP 2024 — 25^th Edition. The latest edition of JTTP is under way with an extended submission deadline of 28 June and the jury deliberating in July. The results will be announced at the AGM and released publicly shortly thereafter.

Nomination of a New CEC Patron. The Board would like to send out a special thanks to the Focus Group for their help in the task of recommending a new CEC Patron from among a handful of nominees. We wish to thank Al Mattes for his time as the CEC Patron for the last several years. The Focus Group consisted of James Andean (CEC President), Julie Delisle (JTTP 2023, 1^st Prize), Rick Nance (CEC Board), Kristian North (JTTP 2023, Westerkamp Award), Stéphane Roy (Independent), Parisa Sabet Sarvestani (JTTP 2023, 5^th Prize) and Caroline Traube (Université de Montréal). The new Patron will be announced at the upcoming AGM.
