A Few Words from the Board of the CEC

JTTP 2020 — Early Call for Submissions

The CEC continues to co-present some great concerts and radio broadcasts — check out the JTTP Events page to learn more.

We are excited to partner with RMIT’s Spatial Information Architecture Laboratory for the international presentation of the JTTP 2019 winners. SIAL’s Sound Studios, directed by Lawrence Harvey, will feature their winning works in a concert in Melbourne (Australia) in early October 2020.

The call for submissions deadline for the 21st edition of JTTP is 1 May 2020. Please help us spread the word for our next edition!

eContact! — Upcoming Issues; Call for Submissions

The final stages of production of eContact! 20.3 — Medium-Specific Practices in Sound, which features articles and interviews, are under way. Watch for that soon on the eContact! site!

We are also preparing to release an issue on Live Coding and Laptop Ensemble/Orchestra practices. The submission deadline for that is fast approaching — please contact Coordinating Editor jef chippewa if you are interested in submitting an article or artist gallery for that issue.

Check out the list of the future years of issues and stay tuned for calls for contributions by visit the CEC’s website regularly, and watch for announcements on the CEC’s Facebook page.

SONUS — 2019 Upgrade Continues

As CEC President Myriam Boucher mentioned in the previous eFlash! (October 2019), the upgrades to Sonus continue. If you haven’t checked it out yet, do so now!

The upgrades have made it easier for Users and Artists in Sonus to update (add/alter info) their profiles and their work information. There are also several new fields for your social media links (Bandcamp, SoundCloud, YouTube, Vimeo), ultimately increasing points of access from Sonus to your creative world.

Even if you don’t have works of your own to submit to the project, you can still take advantage of the platform to access (and organize in your own personal playlists) over 3000 works. Sonus contains a range of styles as diverse as the field of electroacoustic practices itself: from acousmatic and videomusic to live electronics, live coding and hardware hacking to turntablism, glitch and beyond.

Here’s hoping you have made a New Year’s resolution to explore more of the world of Sonus in 2020!

In sound solidarity,
Julie Matson
