A Few Words from the CEC Secretary
Canadian Electroacoustic Community
A sound network.
Dear CEC Members,
A warm hello to everyone! I hope that the long days of summer have brought some enjoyable moments even as our situation continues to change. I’m happy to bring you some news regarding JTTP and our upcoming AGM at the end of the summer. We hope you can join us!
JTTP 2021 — Jeu de temps / Times Play. The 22nd edition of JTTP coordinated by the CEC featured the launch of four new thematic awards, and we received a high number of submissions. Thank you to Kevin Austin for his generous donation making possible these new annual awards. The jury is concluding its work and the results will be shared at the upcoming AGM before being made public.
JTTP 2022 — CEC + CMMAS. The Centro Mexicano para la Música y las Artes Sonoras (CMMAS) accepted our invitation to partner on 2022 edition of JTTP. Works by young and/or emerging electroacoustic artists from or living in Canada and Latin America will be eligible. Previous JTTP partners include the UK’s Sonic Arts Network (SAN) in 2003, Deutsche Gesellschaft für elektroakustische Musik (DEGEM) in 2009 and the Australasian Computer Music Association (ACMA) in 2010.
New JTTP Component: Residencies. This idea arose in discussions with Rodrigo Sigal, CMMAS’ Artistic Director; connecting with partners in Canada it became possible to launch this component for the current edition of JTTP. Winners will be able to present a residency proposal to the invited partner for the year in which they placed.
AGM — Annual General Meeting. The CEC AGM will happen in late summer, more news will follow soon regarding the date and whether we will meet in-person or remotely, or both. We hope you can attend!
Hope you are enjoying a relaxing or productive summer and to our western Canadian members, stay cool and safe!
Best wishes and take care,
Corina MacDonald
