Dedicated to Francis Dhomont. extrémités lointaines uses recordings made during a four-week concert tour in south-east Asia, in the summer of 1997. I recorded the sounds of large cities, the music of churches and temples, and the songs of children. extrémités lointaines integrates vocal and instrumental sounds, while maintaining the cultural context and sound environment of these sources. The present version of extrémités lointaines was recomposed specially for PRESENCE II (the complete version was released by empreintes DIGITALes on the disc Moment, IMED 9947).
