Water Cycles (for Gerald & Tyler)
(April 15 1987)
To be a great mountain lake
Suddenly thrust down
To be channeled twisting
Turning
To be one among the sea
To be free
To be. The cycle continues-
This piece was composed for Un Verre d’Eau S.V.P., a choreography by Celine Lafrenaire. It has since been performed by various Canadian dance troupes and at North American music festivals. It is dedicated to my late father Gerald Holland who died at age 34 and to his first born grandchild, Tyler Gerald Reid, whom he never met.
