Barry Truax performs a set of solo and collaborative works with multi-instrumentalist Randy Raine-Reusch combining Asian instruments and electroacoustics. Also included are world premières of works by Hector Centeno and Tony Leung created under the mentorship of Barry and Trevor Wishart through the Sound Travels emerging artists residency.

World première of Angel by Trevor Wishart commissioned by NAISA for Sound Travels, part of a trilogy of works including Division of Labour and Fabulous Paris will be presented at this concert. Also included are world premières of works by Monica Clorey, Charlotte Scott and Rose Bolton created under the mentorship of Trevor and Barry Truax through the Sound Travels emerging artists residency.

A performer on over 700 world music instruments Randy Raine-Reusch performs at St. Andrew by the Lake Church with Zheng virtuoso dynamo Mei Han.

Indoor Sound Installations

Location: St. Andrew by-the-Lake church, Toronto Island. Sundays only, July 22 – Sept. 2, from 14:00–18:00; Pay-what-you-can (recommended $5).

Two interactive sound installations will be running every Sunday afternoon from July 22 to Sept 2 at St. Andrew-by-the-Lake on Centre Island. Lori Beckstead and David Rose’s The Whispering Tree is an interactive sound sculpture that absorbs the sound around it and then retransmits those sounds. Secrets told to the tree become part of a continuous soundscape emitted by the tree. Also included on an interactive computer are the Toronto Island Sound Map (Don Sinclair and Darren Copeland), Around Radio Roadmovies (Chantal Dumas, Christian Calon and Don Sinclair) as well as a Listening Gallery allowing gallery goers to listen to past Sound Travels performances while viewing the "Sound Travels Documents" Photo Exhibit by Stefan Rose.
