Amnon Yehuda Wolman

for 2 sopranos, tenor and tape

[traduction française non disponible]

‘Nautilus was a plastic environment of progressively constricting space. It entraps a society whose world is dominated by television-mediated persuasion. Deep inside this spiral where most members go about their daily chores, some members witness a creative process, a discussion of artists developing the ideas for Nautilus. They awaken, look, dare to go against the instinct of protection and rip the walls of plastic, only to find a world, similarly controlled by a different media.’ —Herb Zettl

“Nautilus” was commissioned by Dean August Coppola and San Francisco State University, for the 1988 Distinguished Artists Forum. Text: Robert Wendell Hichborn. AW
