Pierre Bouchard is a musician and a glass artist based in Prince Edward County, Ontario. He graduated from Concordia University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Sciences specializing in Applied Mathematics, in 1989 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in the Inter-Related Arts programme, and in 1995 with a Master’s of Educational Technology. During his academic years Pierre discovers electroacoustic music, the prime instigator being Kevin Austin at Concordia University. He also studies under Francis Dhomont (Université de Montréal) and Bruce Pennycook (McGill University). Bridging the analogue and the digital were always a concern of Pierre’s. He dreamt of the day when a complete sound studio would fit a single computer! In 1991 he moves to Toronto as a software instructor and as a commercial artist. His æsthetic thought soon transposes to sculpting glass. In the mid 2000s he establishes Kosoy + Bouchard with partner Michelle Kosoy, a ceramic artist, where his glass is first made public. Nowadays, life in the county allows Pierre to fulfill his dream of working with digital audio workstations to compose electronic music and to do live performances. His latest venture with electronic musician Tim Darbyshire is called db electronica.
