The basis of the work for Racing Inside The Milkyway is Rebecca’s Rainbow, piano, which sounds during the entire Milkyway work. The Finale program was turned into midi and then Digital Performer with the music given different patches then piano. The composer pictures Rebecca Blackwell, a toddler who died of cancer at 18 months, racing in the heavens, darting in and out of the galaxies, flying up and around stars, being with angels, and seeing the formation of new stars. She is gleeful and has hope for the future, while she races along in her spiral heavenly journey upward.
