The sustained, smooth, continuous sounds of this work-in oppositions to the repeated, discontinuous sounds-recall waiting, expectation, and a passive melancholy as distinct from the exuberant activity associated with the latter. Most of the sounds were created with a Roland Jupiter 8 synthesizer, however, the composer states that an essential concern was the creation of sounds that contained the subtlety and complexity of acoustic sounds and the expressiveness of the voice.
