for clarinet, piano, percussion, slide projections and tape
Music at the Centre was written as a collaboration: Diana McIntosh wrote the work apart from the section for tape in the middle of the piece, which was done by Ann Southam, and the slide projections done by Vivian Sturdee. The text includes excerpts from Wordworth’s “Tintern Abbey”. The slides are of shells. The narration can either be performed live, or a recording of it be used. Apart from the narration, this work requires only two performers (the pianist also plays percussion).
