Works » By Title » S » Static Arches (13:50 / 1981)

Thierry Lancino

The idea of the piece goes back to June 1980 when I first went across the desert of Utah, especially across Arches National Monument, infinite space of massive arches of stone, curved by time. Besides the visual connotation, a principle of independent interlacing arches is applied to the architecture of the piece, as well as to the filling of the quadraphonic space, helping the apparition of ephemeral “sound holograms”.
