Initially, the concept behind the composition was to aurally simulate horizontal movement. Pink noise was chosen as the medium because of its apparent lack of character and its availability to anyone wishing to perform the score. Upon working with pink noise in a structured exploration led by chance and bandwidth groupings based on the number eleven I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the lack of character which attracted me to pink noise created a virtual flood of images and feelings as soon as I focused my attention on it. It's nothingness was really it's ability to be everything. “Horizontal Music (Pink) No. 11” is a relaxing, reflective music, evoking forgotten images of sea, wind, crowds, trains, thunder — the planet at a distance. Enjoy.
