sylvi macCormac étudie la composition avec Barry Truax. Elle travaille avec la voix, des instruments et des enregistrements d'environnements sonores tirés de sa propre collection aussi bien que des archives du World Soundscape Project de l'Université Simon Fraser. En 1999, elle a reçu une mention honorable pour Waves of Kokoro lors du 26e Concours International de Musique Électroacoustique de Bourges, France.
