Use of one or more sound sources whose roots are easily recognizable, whether taken from sound archives or from original recordings made by the composer. The original purpose of the source may be transformed or circumvented without however altering its initial referential identity. The composite elements of the collage may be used in a fairly straight-forward, direct manner, or may be modified by mixing them with other elements, by processing or transforming the sound, or by using them in very tightly knit montages etc. |
