David Keane

Internationaly recognized as a composer and teacher, David Keane has also been active in the administration of organizations such as the Canadian League of Composers (CLC), Canadian Electroacoustic Community (CEC), Canadian Music Centre and the Confederation international de musique electroacoustique.
Recorded and published by (among others) RCI, QUM, Music Gallery Editions, Universal Editions (London) and the CMC, his works cover the fields of concert music, dance, theater and radio. His international reputation is also based upon performances throughout Europe, Canada, the United States, Cuba and Japan.
The better part of his output has an electroacoustic component, he is the founder (and Director for 27 years) of the Queen's University Electroacoustic Music Studios and he is the author of "Tape Music Composition" published by Oxford University Press (London). He has also written extensively on aesthetics, history, theory and pedagogy of contemporary music. David Keane is currently Professor Emeritus (Theory/Composition) of the School of Music at Queen's University and President of the Scarborough Southwest NDP Riding Association.
