Composed in the composer’s home studio in 1985, the series, DX-tures, are studies in texture and gesture based upon DX-7 improvisations. Thirty minutes of eight channels of sound were recorded. These were mixed into 12 twelve to thirteen minute improvisational sketches cut similarly from the same cloth. The exploration of sonic textures. Minimal processing after the eight layers of exploration have been assembled. Each layer of the woven fabric is its own organic process, having been played while listening to (sometimes, some of) the previous channels.
