Tournée 25e anniversaire de la CEC
La Communauté électroacoustique canadienne (CEC) a été fondée il y a 25 ans pour répondre aux besoins et aux préoccupations des compositeurs et artistes du milieu canadien de l’électroacoustique. Plusieurs années d’efforts et de travail de coordination de Kevin Austin et Jean-François Denis ont mené à la création en 1986 de la CEC, laquelle est reconnue aujourd’hui, dans l’ensemble du pays et à l’échelle internationale, pour le caractère inclusif de ses nombreux projets ainsi que pour la promotion et le soutien qu’elle offre à l’ensemble des pratiques électroacoustiques.
Pour souligner son 25e anniversaire, la CEC entreprend une tournée nationale cet automne : plus de 25 concerts ainsi que diverses présentations dans neuf villes différentes, de Victoria à St. John’s, en collaboration avec d’importants représentants (individus et institutions) du milieu de l’électroacoustique.
À titre d’invité spécial du projet, Kevin Austin prononcera une communication, portant sur les pratiques électroacoustiques récentes, dans chacune des villes (en personne et diffusion par vidéoconférence). Des artistes locaux ont également été invités à offrir des présentations dans le cadre de ces rencontres.
Des membres du conseil d’administration et de l’équipe administrative de la CEC, de même que des lauréats du concours Jeu de Temps / Times Play (JTTP) de 2011, seront présents à chaque événement pour rencontrer les membres de la collectivité visitée.

Friday, 11 November PROJECT LAUNCH in Montréal

The launch of the CEC's 25th Anniversary Tour is hosted by Concordia University’s Music Department, with the participation of the Concordia Electroacoustic Studies Student Association (CESSA). Come out and celebrate with us on this full day of activities.
In the afternoon, the Music Department will have an Open House, Kevin Austin will present his conference on “Recent Trends in Electroacoustics”, prepared especially for the Anniversary Tour, and four concerts will be held from the afternoon late into the night (a live telematic concert hosted by CLOrk, JTTP 2011 winning works, 60x60 Canadian edition and a laid-back “lounge” concert). The official lauch of the project will be followed by an informal Meet & Greet, where members of the CEC Board and Administration as well as JTTP 2011 guests will be present.
All events take place on the 8th floor of Concordia University’s Molson Building except where indicated. Entrance to all events is free.

The second event of the CEC’s 25th Anniversary Tour takes place in Montréal with the collaboration of the Conservatoire de musique, where several JTTP participants and winners in recent years have studied with Louis Dufort and Martin Bédard (Martin also teaches at Université de Montréal, another important source of JTTP participants over the years). Kevin Austin will present his conference on “Recent Trends in Electroacoustics”, prepared especially for the Anniversary Tour, and all JTTP 2011 winners will be present for a concert of their works. The public is also invited to attend open rehearsals in the afternoon and to come out and meet people from the CEC and JTTP before the evening concert of JTTP 2011 winning works.

Edmonton’s Sea of Sound Festival (18–20 November 2011) is the result of a collaboration between the Music Department of the University of Alberta, Boreal Electroacoustic Music Society (BEAMS) and Tonus Vivus, held in conjunction with and complementing the CEC’s 25th Anniversary events. This weekend-long festival offers a range of electroacoustic and related activities in the downtown core of the city. Kevin Austin will present his conference on “Recent Trends in Electroacoustics”, prepared especially for the Anniversary Tour, four concerts will feature featuring new works from Alberta-based artists, JTTP 2011 winning works and a late-night “lounge” concert, and an exhibition of sound installation works are n the programme. The public is also invited to attend open rehearsals in the afternoon and to come out and meet people from the CEC and JTTP before the Sunday evening concert of JTTP 2011 winning works.

Kevin Austin will present his conference on “Recent Trends in Electroacoustics”, prepared especially for the Anniversary Tour, with invited guests Örjan Sandred and Gordon Fitzell talking in the second part of the seminar. Recent works by young and emerging composers are featured in the JTTP 2011 concert and live and fixed media works will be presented by the interdisciplinary group XIE (eXperimental Improvisation Ensemble) and Studio FLAT in the second concert. The department of Communications Studies and Multimedia of McMaster University hosts the penultimate event on the CEC’s three-week, cross-Canada 25th Anniversary Tour. Kevin Austin will present his conference on “Recent Trends in Electroacoustics”, prepared especially for the Anniversary Tour, with invited guests Victoria Fenner, Christina Sealey and David Ogborn talking in the second part of the seminar.
Recent works by young and emerging composers are featured in the JTTP 2011 concert and the Cybernetic Orchestra (dir. David Ogborn) will give one dinnertime concert and then move downtown for a Cybernetic Orchestra and friends concert.
